book 4/4, building
celebrating, opening, settling in
I haven’t decided where to cut between part three and four, but most likely it will be some time in February just before another celebrations marathon starts.
By February the first guest for this year’s openings and celebrations arrive. An unexpected addition marks the start of the celebrations on the second of March.
On the first of April, the town has a fantastic 24 hour opening which starts at midnight in the Gods Garden.
In the weeks that follow things finally calm down, and the actual experiment begins.
Of course, everything is perfect. And it is just as well that the teams enjoy every bit of that. They will need the good memories soon enough. But at that point, they are too happy to notice the gathering clouds.

This morning Alice went into town, just to look around, to let it all sink in, to see it, not as herself, the head of the project, but herself as Alice Adler, the human.
She walked along Central Avenue, noticed bicycles of all sorts, horses, wheelchairs, walkers, some people dancing, others strolling along, some students hurrying and looking a little overhung, kids running, playing around, another horse, an egg wagon, a wagon taxi …
And suddenly she realised that they might have really done it. The town is a town, and yet it is relaxed, at ease, a bit of a village feeling to it but with the vitality of a city.
Why? Because we put life into every corner, established connections, made a place where humans feel comfortable and like to be, because we made this town a place where people come together, where people are part of the whole while being themselves with no need to conform, a place where they belong no matter what.
